come down as you request..
In compliance with an intimation
contained in it I send you a letter
from Mr. Miller for your perusal. I
do not partake of his fears that the
Whigs will reject the Treaty. It is
too favorable to the U.S. to admit
the belief that they will venture
on so unpatriotic & suicidal a course.
I send a despatch to V. Zandt
to-day but it relates exclusively to the
armistice & is very short. I have little
doubt my despatch to him of the 25th March
last would enable him to obviate any
difficulty which might arise in
consequence of the publication of the
so called Armistice in Mexico & re-
published in the U.S. but to
make "assurance doubly sure" and
in obedience to your suggestion I
send the present one.
Please present my best respects
to Mrs. Houston, not forgetting Master Sam.
Mrs. Jones can give no directions about his
road or any thing else for Master Charley
"has got two little toothens" the second having
made its appearance last evening.
I hope you will come
up as soon as your convenience
