Joint TSLAC/TLA Public Library Standards and Accreditation Task Force

Joint TSLAC/TLA Implementation of the Public Library Development Study Task Force

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission contracted with library consultants Himmel & Wilson to conduct a statewide public library development study. The consultant team studied the Texas State Library programs offered to Texas public libraries, focusing on strategies for furthering positive library development in Texas and mechanisms for that development. The study was completed in July 2003 and was presented to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission on July 28, 2003. The study is now available here [pdf format].

The Texas Library Association and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission appointed two joint task forces to make recommendations regarding the study. Use the links at left to learn more about the work of the two task forces and access background material from the library development study.
