General Information about Disposal Lists
Libraries participating in the depository program must retain
documents received from the program for a minimum of five
years (from the date of the document's publication).
After the five year retention period has passed, participating
libraries may withdraw materials from their collections by
submitting a list of titles marked for disposal and keeping
these items until a claim deadline has been set by the depository
program. The Texas State Library posts these disposal lists
for other depository libraries to review. NOTE: only depository
librarians may claim disposal items from other libraries.

Disposal Lists Currently Available for Review
Notice: During the renovation of the Texas State Library
and Archives, most of the Texas documents collection has been
stored off-site. Because the collection is no longer immediately
available, review of disposal lists may be delayed excessively.
As a result, posting of disposal lists for depository libraries
to review for claim-worthy items will cease for the duration of
the renovation. Disposal lists that are received will continue
to be reviewed as quickly as possible, but after review depository
libraries will be authorized via e-mail to discard items without
waiting additional time for posting here. If you have questions
or concerns regarding this matter, please contact the state
publications coordinator.
