Plan an event
If your grant will be used to purchase something tangible for the
library (new materials, computers, furniture, etc.), consider planning
a community program when the items arrive. For example, if children's
materials were purchased, plan a special storytime that uses the
new books, props, etc. Don't forget to include your Friends organization,
who may be able to provide a reception or another service that will
make your event a success.
Plan a check ceremony that involves your local leaders and legislators.

Submit an opinion column
Send an op-ed article or Letter to the Editor to your local newspaper
describing the value of your library to the community.
Sample op-ed articles, adapted from the American Library Association's
Campaign for America's Libraries
These op-ed articles can also be used to promote the online resources
available through the library.
Get more ideas from the Campaign
for America's Libraries Web site, an initiative of the American
Library Association. Under PR
Tools and Materials, resources include sample Letters to the
Editor, op-ed articles, quotable quotes and national library facts.
Publicize the Loan Star Libraries grant
program in your printed materials
Make note of the grant award, and what it will accomplish at your
library, in your library's newsletter or on your Web site.
On printed materials related to the grant, such as bookplates,
program notices, newsletter articles, Web sites, etc., please credit
the Loan Star Libraries program with the following recommended statement:

Commission, made possible by the Texas Legislature.
Document your success!

to your patrons. Take photographs! Record instances in which patrons'
