3. Project Loan

Introduction

Project Loan is a program managed by the Texas State Library whereby Texas libraries are reimbursed for net loans made over OCLC to other Texas libraries through a TexNet Center. Statistics obtained from OCLC are used to determine the number of net loans for each library. Net loans are the difference between the number of loans a library makes through TexNet Centers and the number of items they borrow from TexNet Center libraries.

Participation Requirements

Project Loan is open to any Texas library (except TexNet Centers) capable
of receiving requests over OCLC. Participating libraries fill a minimum of about 100 net loans annually, and attempt to fill all public, academic, and special library requests referred by a TexNet Center.

Reimbursements

Libraries are currently being reimbursed at a rate of $4.00 per net loan.

The total number of net loans is determined from statistics provided by OCLC.

Reimbursement payments are made at the end of the state fiscal year.

Participants

The list of libraries participating in Project Loan changes from year to year.
