Comments and Suggestions: I have been sorely disappointed with the genealogy archives held at the State of Tx. archives. The genealogy records of the state are housed in 4-5 different locations around the state. Since our ancestors were far more migrant that are we, this is unsuitable as the state grew rapidly after the Civil War. How can we say that we are a famly oriented society when very few people even know their ancestoral history? Texas needs to duplicate these resources at least in microfilm, and make them available at one place in Austin, or make all of the materials currently held at seperate locations available at ALL of the present locations. This whole system needs an overhaul, rather than the researcher running all over the state looking for records. Each counties records should be held in Austin. If that is not feasible, then find 3 locations in Tx. and duplicate all of the county records for each of the three locations.

Comments and Suggestions: I applaud your research, much of your conclusions, and many of your goals, but your efforts and and direction do not seem committed to what you know.
Why should we continue microfilming data when the customer need and ease of use ahould be digital?
Your own research, and some goals tell one he need is for on-line and digital sharing.
Your goals and previous goals ask for a 5 or 10 percent increase in use. Shear growth in population should cause this increase? Connecting libraries on-line and placing each library's works available though web-sites, etc. would cause increase in usage astronmically.
Usage in secondary school libraries drops dramatically (almost non-existant) as they failed to change to meet the informational and technical needs of today, withour even considering the future.
As with many institutions, libraries are designed for the ease of yesteryear's empoyees' and not for the consumer or our product.
School's are often described as 10 years behind the bowling alleys in the use of technology. Libraries are far behind the rest of the school.
We must look past learning as a sacred, dusty room. Learning is not confined by walls or paper.
