A Few Words from Peggy D. Rudd, Director and Librarian

Welcome to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission's Web site, developed with you in mind! This site was conceived as a virtual "mall" of information and ideas, organized for your ease of use. That's what we librarians do best, organize information so that you can find what you need and want as quickly as possible.

As we move into the new millennium, it's clear that information is becoming more and more important and valuable in our daily lives. And the Internet and World Wide Web have made increasing amounts of information available at our fingertips. Libraries are in a unique position to weave together the traditional with the innovative, the book with the byte.

We hope you enjoy your "virtual" visit to libraries and archives in Texas. On behalf of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and its dedicated staff, we hope you will come visit us again and often.
